Bridgeport Cricket Club was established in 1978 playing in the Connecticut Cricket League. The Club’s home ground was at East Side Middle School on Palisade Avenue. In 1987 the team broke up and did not play cricket for many years. Many of the Bridgeport Cricket Club players went on to play cricket with Norwalk Cricket Team and New Haven Cricket Team. In 1992 the club was reestablished under the name of Yellow Bird Cricket Club. In 1997 the cricket club separated from the Yellow Bird Social Club and was renamed Bridgeport Cricket Club. In the same year, Bridgeport Cricket Club won the championship in the Connecticut Cricket League.
In 2002 Bridgeport Cricket Club broke away from the Connecticut Cricket League along with 6 other clubs to form the Southern Connecticut Cricket Association. In the same year, the Club's home ground was moved to Bullard Havens Regional Vocational Technical High School where we played cricket for one year. |
