Bylaws
ALL BYLAWS AND REGULATIONS WILL BE ENFORCED
Bridgeport Cricket Association (club) falls under the umbrella of the Southern Connecticut Cricket Association. Bridgeport Cricket Club’s primary functions are to play cricket, promote, encourage, foster and develop interest in and understanding of the game of cricket, as well as to encourage and develop friendly and competitive cricket at local, state and national levels.
To organize, promote and participate in matches and competitions at local, state and national levels abiding by the constitution of the Southern Connecticut Cricket Association.
The Bridgeport Cricket Club Board will meet on a monthly basis to assess the progress of the club as well as to plan/organize fundraising functions for the club and to discuss pertinent matters in regards to the club, its members and players.
Bridgeport Cricket Club will attempt to hold at least three general meetings and one election meeting on an annual basis.
Bridgeport Cricket Club’s Board will consist of:
• President
• Vice-President
• Secretary
• Treasurer
• Captain
• Vice-Captain
• Manager
• Club Advisor
• Representatives to the League (Association)
• Food Coordinator
• Disciplinary Committee Chair or one Member
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Annual dues: Player $100, Non-Playing Member $25. All applications should be submitted 1 month prior the start of the cricket season with half of the fee, the remaining fee is due prior to the first game.
Members of the Board will not be able to actively hold their position if they are not in good financial standing with the Club.
NO PLAYER WILL PLAY IN ANY GAME BEFORE THEIR PAYMENT IS MADE IN FULL.
Any and all financial transactions regarding the Bridgeport Cricket Club should be made through any of the following individuals.
• President
• Vice-President
• Captain
• Vice-Captain
• Treasurer or (his/her assistant)
• Secretary or (his/her assistant)
MEMBER CONDUCT
There must be no display of indecent language (bad words) or unlawful exposure or indecent gesture during a game or practice, on or off the field by any member, or action that can be considered offensive. Disciplinary action, accompanying any of these actions is as follows:
Players
• No smoking on the field during a game…………………Monetary Fine (smoking permitted only on water breaks.)
• 1st Offense of Cursing ……………………………………Monetary Fine
• 2nd Offense of Cursing ………........………2 or 3 games suspension + Fine at the Boards Discretion
• 1st Offense of Offensive Exposure ……… 2 or 3 games suspension + Fine at the Boards Discretion
• Hitting down the wickets for any reason will be an automatic suspension of a minimum of 3 games.
• Any display of unsportsmanlike conduct on the field towards any player, personnel, or official will result in an immediate suspension pending further decision by the Board. After a decision has been reached, it will be communicated to the individual by letter, by phone, or in person. The Captain has the full authority to remove a player from the field of play.
GAME WEAR
All players are required to wear full game gears at all games.
PRACTICE
Players are expected to practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Practices will begin at 6:00 p.m. until. Any other days are at the discretion of the Captain, Vice-Captain and Team Manager and will be communicated to the players in a timely manner.
Each player is expected to participate in all aspect of the team practices. The Captain, Vice-Captain and/or Manager, will direct all practice session, unless otherwise directed by the Captain, Vice-Captain and/or Manager.
TEAM SELECTION
The Captain and/or Vice-Captain will contact each player who is selected to play. The pre-selected team can and/or may be changed on game day by the Captain, Vice-Captain or Manager if necessary.
All players MUST contact the Captain, Vice-Captain, President or Vice-President if they are not able to play. The final selection of the team will be made an hour before game time.
The team will be selected on a complement of categories. They are as follows:
• PracticeAttendance and participation
• ConductOn field, off field and at practice
• FinancialA player will not play if dues are not paid.
Also, if fines are not paid, said player is not allowed
to play until his fine is paid in full.
FIELD PREPARATION AND EQUIPMENT REMOVAL
At each home game four players will be selected to prepare the field and remove equipment from the field. All players are encouraged to assist with the removal of equipment/gears off the field after a home game.
UMPIRING RESPONSIBILITIES
An umpire fee will be collected from each player at the beginning of each game.
As long as the League expects all teams to provide umpires for League games, Bridgeport Cricket Club will assign players to perform umpiring duties.
A player from the selected team will be required to stand in as a square leg umpire.
All players will be informed in advance of where they are scheduled to umpire.
Players will be given prior notification so that if there are any discrepancies, they will have ample time to make adjustments.
